If you know anything about photography, you know that Nikon has released a new full frame camera – D800. In many ways it’s a revolutionary step forward, and while some people are not too happy about such big steps forward others welcome the change.
I have been planning on upgrading my camera for quite a while – I’ve got a D90 now, which is more than enough for me with one caveat – it’s a cropped sensor camera (sensor smaller than full frame which is the same size as a film from the old days) and while you can use full frame lenses with it you don’t get the same benefits as when using them on a full frame body. So a while ago I decided against purchasing lenses for cropped sensor cameras (so called DX lenses) and wait until I upgrade my camera body to a full frame model.
The camera was officially released on March 22, 2012 and a lot of people around the world have been enjoying it for almost 2 weeks by now. Unfortunately it seems it still didn’t make it to Calgary – none of the pro-shops have got it yet. Which is a shame, since couple of my buddies back in the Caribbean have already laid their sweaty palms on these new beauties! Yes, I’m talking about you, Chaim and Victor! You, lucky buggers, you! 🙂
Well, all I’ve got to do is wait. And read more and more about other people experience with the camera. Hopefully it won’t be a very long wait!
